How It Works

Seismoelectric is an offshoot of oil exploration technology which has been optimized for locating ground water. A shock is sent into the ground. When the shock encounters a water bearing layer, the water vibrates in the rock. This generates a slight electric charge.

Electrodes in the ground detect this electric charge and send it to our computer system. From the signal we can estimate the depth to the aquifer and the yield of a well drilled into the aquifer.

Each sounding is a snapshot of the ground at a specific spot. A survey consists of several soundings, spaced 75-125 feet apart, to provide a profile of the ground water under your property.
