"Why Do I Need A Water Survey?"

Won’t I hit water anywhere I drill?
No! In many areas of the Northwest you may get little to no water if you drill without a water survey you could get a “dry hole”, and you will pay for it … dry or not.

Can’t my driller tell me where to drill?
Drillers can use their experience in an area. They can refer to the State Well Log System. But they can’t see under the ground at your location and tell the best place to drill.

Can’t I just get a “Water Witcher” or Dowser to show me where to drill?
Despite their claims, no scientific study of “Water Witchers” or Dowsers has ever shown that they have any ability to detect water under the ground.

We regret to say that many times we are called in to find where the water really is after an expensive dry hole has been drilled at the “Witchers” site.

If most wells in my area are productive, do I still need a water survey?
We can locate the strongest source of water to meet your need. Our technology may locate a shallower source of water and save you money drilling. We can tell you if you should stop with what water you first get, or should drill deeper to better meet your need.

Is a Water Survey cost effective?
With the cost of drilling at $25-$35 per foot, even a modest depth well might cost $5,000 to $10,000 or more. The cost of a Water Survey is usually only 10-20% of that cost, a real bargain for the risk avoidance it buys. Ask yourself, can I afford to risk that $5,000 to $10,000 on a “Dry Hole”? If not, get a survey.

How much water do I need?
A Domestic Water Right is for 5,000 gallons per day and the right to irrigate one half acre of a yard. Most folks are comfortable with 7-12 gallons per minute (GPM) for a domestic well. With a good cistern system you might get by with as little as 3 ½ GPM.
